ABOUT
Michael Wu is a New York–based independent artist blending indie rock, dream pop, post-punk, and alt-folk. His music pairs melodic, guitar-driven hooks with shimmering, atmospheric textures — sincere, modern, and rooted in the lineage of R.E.M. and classic British guitar pop in the vein of Johnny Marr (The Smiths) and James Honeyman-Scott (Pretenders), with modern influences like Beach Fossils and The War on Drugs, and Jason Falkner.
After years on bass with regional acts like Gunpoets and Front & Main, Wu stepped forward in 2025 with his solo debut Time25, earning early praise from outlets such as Pitch Perfect, Obscure Sound, and regional media. The release marked the start of a deliberate artist journey, documented through his growing YouTube channel.
With his debut EP The Other Side on the horizon, Wu continues to craft songs that connect through honesty and craft creating music for listeners who care about where songs come from and what they mean.
Michael has played Michael Tobias Design (MTD) bass guitars since 2007 and occasionally a Nash, Fender, or Ric.
